Update: Migrate CMS from Hugo to WordPress

·

,

My blog created using gohugo which is very fast and instant build hundred of markdown file into html, so I can host for free at Cloudflare Pages. But, I found some problem while working on this blog that makes me migrate to WordPress. Update and create blog should update to file markdown directly and compile to make it public, I’m not comfortable with this flow because blog should be write in anywhere and anytime. This kind of flow has made me realize that this is not friendly for blogger, I think it more suitable become a documentation website, because documentation created from lightweight file like markdown and should deploy into public easily.

Before install wordpress, I always speculate that wordpress is slow and old-aged because have bad experience in development long ago, feedback from community also affect how I see it. But, I try to open-minded and try this thing.

So, I try to install wordpress and setup on server. It’s not hard and I can easily adapt and create lightweight and fast wordpress blog. I was learn many thing like install nginx, install php, configuring nginx, securing the connection and caching. This blog help me go through installation with clear instruction and explaination. I try to install as little as much plugin because I want it fast, and fastcgi help the cache make this site instantly loaded in ~20ms!

The dashboard and management content looks modern, thanks to the modern blog editor The Gutenberg managed by community. My speculation is wrong!, wordpress can become the best CMS if you can handle it correctly.

Migrating content from hugo to wordpress is not that hard, I just had to create pattern and mark as archive. Because I have access to nginx, so I can easily update configuration as much as I want.

So, welcome to my new home. Thanks for your reading, see you next time.
